REPORTS FROM IRAQ

ANBAR

The Chairman of Anbar GC asks PM Abadi to release the results of the investigations into the fall of Falluja and Ramadi and send the military and security commanders implicated to military courts. [Sumaria]

 

An MP from Anbar says 5,000 fighters from different tribes of Anbar are participating in the battles in Ramadi. He also says these fighters haven’t received their salaries. [Sumaria]

 

Falluja

An Iraqi Rapid Intervention unit killed a Daesh terrorist in Hitawiyeen south of Falluja. [BOC Facebook Page]

 

An Iraqi Rapid Intervention unit killed 3 terrorists and destroyed a vehicle carrying a machine gun in Subaihat village in Qarma.  [BOC Facebook Page]

 

A local PMF commander says Iraqi forces conducted a preemptive operation in Buhairat in Qarma, killing a Daesh sniper officer and 4 of his associates and destroying weapons and explosives hideouts. [Mada]

An Iraqi commander says security forces defused a car bomb in Ameriyat Al-Falluja center. [Baghdadia]

 

The Mayor of Ameriyat Al-Falluja says a Japanese organization opened a camp with 500 tents for displaced people in the subdistrict. [Sumaria]

 

Ramadi

Iraqi forces “advanced” in Albu Farraj and Albu Aitha, killing “dozens” of terrorists and destroying Daesh locations and 6 vehicle bombs. Iraqi forces are also advancing in Jaraishi and the stadium areas (video). [IWMC Report] [MoD Website]

 

The IFP artillery shelled Daesh in East Hsaiba, east of Ramadi, killing many terrorists including 10 from Arab countries, and destroying 3 construction shovels and a vehicle with a machine gun. [IWMC Report]

 

The IWMC says the Anti-Terrorism troops destroyed 2 Daesh vehicle bombs and killed the suicide bombers in Albu Chlaib west of Ramadi. [Ghad]

Another source says Iraqi forces supported by the IAA and the Coalition killed 20 suicide bombers and destroyed 17 vehicle bombs in Abu Chlaib and the surrounding area. [Baghdadia]

 

A Joint Operations Command source says reinforcements from the Golden Division arrived in Ramadi to join with Iraqi forces there to liberate the city. [Maalomah]

The Chairman of the District Council of Khaldiya says 900 more tribal fighters joined the training camp in Habbaniya to participate in the war against Daesh. [Rudaw]

The Chairman also says the Coalition destroyed 6 Daesh vehicle bombs attacking Iraqi forces, in Albu Chlaib and in Albu Farraj and other areas north of Ramadi. [Baghdadia]

 

The Anbar Operations Commander says Iraqi forces stopped a massive Daesh attack started on Monday morning on areas north of Anbar, killing 30 Daesh fighters and destroying their vehicles while 2 Iraqi soldiers were killed. He also says Iraqi forces advanced in the area after the attack. [Baghdadia]

 

A security source says Iraqi forces liberated the Al-Tash area south of Ramadi. [Baghdadia]

A security source says Iraqi forces liberated Al-Sunjuk in Hit, killing “dozens” of Daesh terrorists and capturing weapons and military equipment. [Baghdadia]

 

SALAHUDDIN

Baiji

IWMC says Iraqi forces cleared Baiji and Albu Juwari completely from Daesh after defusing IEDs and vehicle bombs. [IWMC Report]

DaeshDaily comment. Iraqi forces should learn  not to advance into captured areas while there are still Daesh pockets behind them. This is not the first time Iraqi forces liberated some of these areas in and around Baiji, and they were forced to retreat more than once. The same could be said about Ramadi and Qarma, where we hear every day that Iraqi forces are “advancing,” and the IWMC forgets to mention when they retreat.

 

An IFP source says Iraqi forces cleared Al-Hay Al-Asry east of Siniya. The source also says Iraqi forces killed 10 Daesh fighters hiding in civilian houses in Albu Juwari. [Ghad]

 

A Salahuddin Operations Command source said Iraqi forces defused four booby-trapped buildings inside the Baiji refinery. [Mada]

 

A PMF commander says 2 Daesh fighters were killed after being trapped house already booby-trapped by Daesh in west Baiji. [Sumaria]

 

IWMC says the IFP’s Anti-Explosives Unit found a big Daesh car bomb/IED factory within the cement factory in Baiji and defused 6 car bombs and 299 IEDs. [Sumaria]

A PMF source says Saraya Al-Salam rocketed a Daesh hideout west of Samarra, killing 3 fighters and destroying 2 vehicles. [Harbi]

BAGHDAD

A source in Abadi’s office says the Prime Minister appointed Imad Al-Kharsan as the General Secretary of the Council of Ministers. [Sumaria]

PM Abadi meets with General Dunford, Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff. Abadi’s office issued a statement saying the General congratulated Abadi on the recent victories in Baiji and Anbar. [Rudaw]

 

The Iraqi Minister of Defense meets in his office with General Joseph Dunford and the American Ambassador to Iraq. Both parties stressed strong relationships and the military cooperation between the two countries. [MoD Website]

 

The Foreign Affairs Minister meets with a Gorran delegation to discuss the political situation in Kurdistan and ways to solve the current crisis. [Baghdadia]

An MP from Badr says Iraq needs both the International Coalition and the Quadripartite Coalition but Russia seems more serious about fighting Daesh because of its thousands of Russian and Chechen terrorists. [Buratha]

According to security sources:

  • A civilian was killed and 7 wounded when a sticker IED exploded under a small bus in Bub Al-Sham in north Baghdad. [Mada]
  • Three civilians were killed and 7 wounded when an IED exploded near a commercial area in Hamamiyat in Taji in north Baghdad. [Mada]
  • A roadside IED exploded in Meshahda in north Baghdad killing a civilian. [Sumaria]
  • Two civilians were killed and 4 wounded when an IED exploded near a popular market in Hay Al-Wihda in central Baghdad. [Maalomah]
  • Two civilians were killed and 5 wounded when an IED exploded near a popular market in Al-Amin in east Baghdad. [Mada]
  • Two civilians were killed and 6 wounded when an IED exploded near a commercial area in Tal Mohammed in east Baghdad. [Mada]
  • Unknown armed men shot 3 prison guards in a civilian car on the Mohammed Al-Qassem Highway in east Baghdad, killing one of them and wounding 2. [Mada]
  • Unknown armed men attacked a Sahwa checkpoint in Dari’ya in Mada’in in south Baghdad killing 2 Sahwa fighters and wounding 5. [Baghdadia]

Baquba

A police source says 3 persons were arrested for possible roles in the assassination attempt on the Diyala Governor yesterday. [Mada]

Daesh claims responsibility for the attack on the Diyala Governor and says its terrorists attacked his convoy with hand grenades, wounding him and killing one of his bodyguards and wounding 2. [Dump]

 

Muqdadiya

A local source says 2 mortar shells fell on a house in Mukhaisa, wounding 4 civilians. [Sumaria]

 

A security source says unknown armed men shot and killed 2 Sahwa fighters in Hay Al-Askari in Muqdadiya. [Baghdadia]

 

A security source says a farmer was killed when an IED exploded in a village in Abu Saida. [Baghdadia]

 

KIRKUK

A local source says Daesh executed 18 people in Hawija, accusing them of communicating with Iraqi security forces. The source says Daesh dragged some of them alive behind vehicles on the streets until they died, and hanged the bodies of others on electricity poles. [Sumaria]

 

A security source says the Coalition bombed Daesh near the Al-Safra airbase in Rashad, 65 km (40 miles) south of Kirkuk, killing 4 terrorists and wounding 7. [Mada]

A Kurdish security source says the Coalition bombed Daesh in the Shakhouli village in Al-Khazer killing 10 terrorists. [Mada]

 

A PUK official says the bodies of 4 Daesh commanders killed in Siniya arrived at the Forensics Department in Mosul. [PUKMedia]

He also says the Coalition bombed Daesh in two Ninewa areas, killing 15 and destroying 7 vehicles. [PUKMedia]

KURDISTAN

General Joseph Dunford, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, arrives in Erbil for an unannounced visit. [Sumaria]

President Barzani and General Dunford met in Erbil to discuss cooperation between the Iraqi forces and the Peshmerga and preparations for Mosul’s liberation. [Mawazin]

 

The head of the Peshmerga ministry, from the Gorran party, says the current problems in Kurdistan will not affect the Peshmerga’s ability to fight Daesh. He also says the Peshmerga and the KRG are ready to coordinate with the Iraqi forces to fight Daesh anywhere. [Mawazin]

 

The KDP wants to take the Kurdish positions in Baghdad away from Gorran, including the Chairman of the Kurdish Alliance in the CoR. Goran reps say “we won’t remain silent if that happens” and the Islamic Union says it would divide the Kurdish Alliance in Baghdad. [Rudaw]

 

A Gorran MP in the CoR says KRG PM Nechirvan Barzani’s visit to Baghdad is “partisan” and doesn’t represent the KRG. [Sumaria]

 

Barham Salih, the Second Deputy of the PUK Secretary-General and former KRG Prime Minister, meets with the British Ambassador and says the system for governing in Kurdistan needs to be revised. He says democracy in Kurdistan needs to be protected. [Rudaw]

A Babel police source says 2 IEDs were found and defused in Iskandariya north of Hilla. [Mada]

Local sources say Russian and Syrian planes dropped leaflets on Al-Bab threatening Daesh fighters and telling them to surrender. [Welati]

A military source says a Daesh IED exploded on a YPG vehicle in Tal Tamr in Hasaka, killing 3 fighters. [BasNews]

Three more people were wounded in a Daesh landline explosion in Kobane countryside. [Welati]

Local sources say the Turkish military is planting land mines on the Syrian side of the border in Afrin. [Hawar]

Main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said the Turkish police have had their hands tied by the government, which in turn has thwarted efforts by investigators to crack down on the Daesh network in Turkey. [Cihan]

 

Ömer Faruk Eminağaoğlu, the President of the Turkish Judges’ Union, filed a complaint against the Turkish PM, Interior Minister, Ankara Governor, the National and Ankara Police Department chiefs and other officials, on six separate charges including misconduct, premeditated murder due to a negligent act, and public officers’ favoring perpetrators.
