NATIONAL NEWS

The Council of Ministers held its meeting today. The Council reportedly discussed several issues including the electricity shortage. The Council stressed that the Mosul Dam maintenance is heading in the right direction and the company has started its maintenance work on the dam. All ministries were in attendance according to a statement from Prime Minister Abadi’s office [Mada]

However, Prime Minister Abadi’s spokesman says the new ministers didn’t attend the meeting because they haven’t taken the oath yet. [Sumaria] Baqir Al-Zubaidi, former Minister of Transportation, says only 10 ministers attended the meeting and the rest were acting ministers. [Sumaria]

 

Prime Minister Abadi said in a workshop with UNDP that corruption and terrorism are “one enemy”, asking the UN to help Iraq regain the Iraqi people’s monies that were smuggled outside the country. [Mada]

A Jazeera Operations Command source says Iraqi forces shelled Daesh locations with mortars in the Dolab area, killing 4 terrorists. The source also says warplanes destroyed a Daesh weapons storehouse in Jubba north of Baghdadi, a trench in Qusairat, and a fuel storage facility in the Sawer area. A Salahuddin Provincial Council source says a tribal agreement was signed between Sunnis and Shia in Yathrib to let displaced families return to their houses next week after paying blood money for Daesh victims. Baquba

A local source says the final count of the terrorist attack on Shifta was fourteen dead and thirty eight wounded, including women and children. [Sumaria]

DaeshDaily comment. Daesh said yesterday it killed 50 PMFs in this terrorist attack. Daesh categorizes its victims and put them in groups that its supporters hate (infidels, Sahwa, Shia, PMFs, etc.) But anyone can see that the vast majority of Daesh victims are civilians, and many are children. The problem is not that Daesh propaganda is convincing, but that its supporters don’t care if civilians get killed.

 

The families of the victims of the Shifta terrorist attacks blocked some roads in Baquba demanding an investigation and a follow up on the Daesh sleeper cells issue. Daesh killed Fatima Azzam, a two year old girl from Abbara on Saturday without generating a hint of disapproval from its online supporters. According to the Abbara subdistrict council chairman, Daesh “executed” the child in her father’s lab. [Sumaria]

Since then, several Daesh attacks happened in the city leading to many objections from Shia politicians and citizens. A security source says Daesh set on fire a family of five, including three children, in Riyadh subdistrict, accusing them of “leaving the caliphate land”. [Sumaria]

The JOC Spokesman says the first stage of Ninewa liberation operations is still in effect. He says Iraqi forces are cutting off supply lines then surrounding areas along the supply line and attacking them. He noted that Ramadi’s liberation took three stages. [Mawazin]

 

A JOC source says Coalition warplanes bombed Daesh in the Ghabat area in Mosul, killing 6 terrorists, wounding five, and destroying a weapons storehouse. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says Turkish border guards have killed thirty Syrian citizens who were attempting to cross the border so far during 2016 , including women and children,. Turkish President Erdogan says all of the options are open regarding the war on Daesh in Syria. [ARA]

Local activists say Daesh terrorists attacked Kishkish village, south of Shaddadi, with 2 vehicle bombs. Daesh also launched 6 Grad rockets on different areas in Shaddadi, including the hospital, killing or wounding several people. Daesh also attacked Azzawi but the attack failed. [Dorar]

 

Daesh says it terrorists attacked Azzawi and Meshaweh villages, southwest of Shaddadi. Daesh says a group of Daesh attacked the village and drove the YPG out before retreating safely. A Turkey-backed Syrian opposition commander says Daesh launched a massive attack northeast of Azaz, but the opposition groups stopped the attacks, killing a Daesh terrorist and wounding others. Local sources say Daesh terrorists are raiding houses in the areas they captured recently near Misrata and arrested “tens” of citizens. Daesh also executed several military and security personnel during the last few days. [Libya]

 

An informed source says a Tunisian Daesh leader fled Sirte with 2 other terrorists after stealing 45,000 Libyan Dinars. The terrorists used to work in Daesh’s “money house,” responsible for collecting taxes from the people of the city. [Libya24]

A Tunisian NGO says it is trying to bring back 43 Tunisian terrorists from Syria and 12 from Iraq. It says that the Syrian authorities are willing to cooperate while the Iraqi authorities are not. All of these terrorists are sentenced to life in prison or death. [Tunisien]

 

The Tunisian Ministry of Interior says it captured a Daesh cell of 3 terrorists in Kebili who were recruiting for Daesh using the internet. Members of the cell provided information about another cell of 3 who were planning to attack security forces. [Tunisien]

Italy

Italian police arrested 2 Daesh suspects in Puglia. The suspects are part of a 5-member Daesh cell that was planning attacks on Rome and London. [Sumaria]
