ANBAR

Falluja

The Iraq War Media Cell (IWMC) says the IAF bombed a Daesh hideout in the Al-Golan area within the city of Falluja, killing many terrorists including foreigners. [Ghad]

 

A source in Anbar Operations Command says Iraqi forces killed 5 Daesh fighters attacking a security post in Saqlawiya north of Falluja. [Maalomah]

 

A PMF official says more than 2,000 PMF fighters haven’t received any salaries since they were deployed to Ameriyat Al-Falluja in June last year. [Ghad]

Ramadi

The Chairman of the subdistrict council in Khaldiya says Iraqi forces cleared the Albu Assaf area north of Ramadi, killing “dozens” of terrorists. [Maalomah]

 

The Commander of the tribal fighters in Khaldiya says Iraqi forces stopped a Daesh attack on the Abu Flais area in Khaldiya, 20 km (12.5 miles) east of Ramadi, killing dozens of Daesh fighters and destroying many vehicles. [Mada]

 

A source in Anbar police says Daesh shelled public and residential areas in Khaldiya with mortars, killing and wounding many civilians. [Maalomah]

 

A source in Anbar Operations Command says Iraqi forces deployed more reinforcements east of Ramadi, preparing for a major campaign on the city. [Maalomah]

 

The IFP Commander says his troops rocketed Daesh in the Albu Murad area in Ramadi city, killing 16 of them and wounding 6. [Mada]

 

A source in Anbar Operations Command says Iraqi troops conducted a large military operation on the outskirts of Tameem, 10 km (6 miles) south of Ramadi, killing 12 Daesh fighters and destroying 7 vehicles, a fuel tank and a rocket launcher. [Mada]

 

IWMC says the IAF bombed a Daesh hideout in the stadium area in Ramadi, killing “dozens” of Daesh members. [Mada]

 

A security source says the Coalition bombed a Daesh vehicle bomb attacking Iraqi forces in the 5 Kilo area west of Ramadi. [Baghdadia]

 

Iraqi forces destroyed 4 Daesh vehicles and killed several terrorists in Humaira southeast of Ramadi. [Ghad]

 

Hit/Haditha

The Commander of Al-Assad Brigade, a local tribal force, says his troops and the Iraqi Army 7th Division stopped a Daesh attack on Barwana in Haditha District. [Buratha]

 

Jazeera Operations Command killed 2 terrorists; and destroyed a vehicle bomb and 3 trucks loaded with weapons, in addition to 2 hideouts and 2 motorcycles, near Alus in Haditha district. [IWMC Report]

Western Anbar

A local official says people in Rutba established civil-defense units to fight Daesh, and recently killed 5 Daesh members in an ambush. [Sumaria]

 

SALAHUDDIN

Shirqat

A security source says Iraqi forces killed a Daesh local leader responsible for recruitment in Shirqat. [Maalomah]

 

A security source says an armed group targeted a Daesh checkpoint in Shirqat with an RPG 7 rocket, killing 4 Daesh members and injuring 2. [Maalomah]

 

Baiji

A security source says Iraqi forces supported by IAA helicopters advanced in Baiji and cleared the roads to the refinery and to Fatha and Shirqat. [Maalomah]

 

The IWMC says the PMFs killed Daesh’s commander in north Baiji. The commander appeared previously in a video threatening the Iraqi forces. [Ghad]

 

The Chaldean PMFs Commander says Iraqi forces have encircled Siniya west of Baiji from all sides preparing to break through. [Etejah]

 

The leader of Albu Nimr tribe says unknown fighter jets bombed a residential compound in Baiji killing 150 displaced people, 50 of them from his tribe. [Sumaria]

Tikrit

A local PMF commander in Salahuddin says Daesh is attacking Ajil and Allas oil fields east of Tikrit. The fields have more than 100 wells used to finance Daesh operations. [Iraq Press]

 

IWMC says the IAA launched an airstrike on a Daesh hideout in Shajarat Al-Dur, west of Tikrit, killing “dozens” of Daesh terrorists and destroying an armored construction shovel and 4 vehicles. [Mada]

 

Samarra

Salahuddin Operations Command found an explosives factory and defused 137 IEDs near the Strategic Line. [IWMC Report]

 

Daesh says one of its Syrian suicide bombers attacked Iraqi forces west of Samarra with a vehicle loaded with 3 tons of explosives, killing or wounding “dozens” of them. [Dump] Daesh also says 2 of its suicide bombers (an Iraqi and a Syrian) detonated another vehicle on Watban Street west of Samarra, killing or wounding “dozens.”[Dump]

 

BAGHDAD

Thousands of people demonstrated today in Baghdad and other Iraqi cities, demanding “real reforms” especially in the judicial system. [Mada] [Mada] [Baghdadia] [Ghad] [Gharbiya]

Daesh Daily comment. The real message is another political attack against the chief judge and against high court judges who made critical decisions favorable to Al-Maliki during his tenure.

Former PM Allawi, who lost his position as Vice President in the reforms, says PM Abadi should be replaced with a “more capable” person. [Maalomah] Allawi also criticized Abadi last week.

A member of the security and defense committee in the Baghdad GC says the terrorist attacks in Baghdad are part of a plan to weaken Abadi’s government. [Etejah]

 

The spokesman of Kata’eb Hezbollah complains that Abadi’s government is giving a larger role to the American advisors in the battle against Daesh. [Etejah]

Daesh Daily comment. This could be true, and if so is a good thing. The statement reflects the persistent anti-American propaganda from this particular militia, and we can wonder whether they are speaking for themselves or for the country to the east.

 

The Baghdad governor says 4 women died and 65 others were infected with cholera in Abu Ghraib in west Baghdad. [Sumaria] Local sources in Abu Ghraib say cholera spread in the area because of the lack of clean drinking water. [Iraq Press]

 

Baghdad Operations Command says its troops arrested 5 men as they were planting IEDs in Meshahda in Tarmiya in north Baghdad. [BOC Facebook Page] Iraqi forces found a big weapons and explosives storehouse in Tarmiya yesterday and arrested 2 men.

 

According to security sources:

  • Two unknown bodies were found shot in Fudhailiya in east Baghdad. [Mada]
  • An employee of the Ministry of Justice was killed when unknown armed men shot him in his car on Al-Qanat Highway in east Baghdad. [Baghdadia]
  • An IED exploded near Al-Rasheed wholesale market in south Baghdad killing 2 civilians and wounding 5. [Mada]
  • Seven civilians were wounded when an IED exploded near a popular market in Suwaib in southwest Baghdad. [Maalomah]
  • A parked motorcycle exploded in Khan Dhari in Abu Ghraib in west Baghdad killing 2 civilians and wounding 4. [Maalomah]

 

The IAF conducted 4 sorties and the IAA 21 (results reported elsewhere herein).

The Coalition conducted 10 sorties, killing many Daesh fighters and destroying 3 hideouts, 2 vehicles and a construction shovel. [IWMC Report]

DIYALA

The Chairman of the security committee in Diyala GC says Iraqi forces ambushed and killed 2 Daesh members in Himrin Hills, 90 km (56 miles) north of Baquba. [Sumaria] He also says 2 men wanted on terrorism charges were arrested in Baquba. [Sumaria]

 

A security source says unknown armed men opened fire on a group of youth in a residential area of Abu Saida, killing 7 of them and wounding 5. [Baghdadia]

 

A local official in Al-Khalis says the demonstrations were postponed in the district this week because some of their demands were already approved, including replacing the mayor. [Sumaria]

 

KIRKUK

A security source in Kirkuk says Daesh arrested 10 mosque imams in Hawija for refusing to renew their allegiance to Awwad Baghdadi. [Buratha]

 

A Peshmerga commander says his troops attacked Daesh in Al-Koubia village west of Kirkuk, killing 7 terrorists. He also says the Coalition bombed Daesh in the nearby Tal Al-Warid village, killing 8. [BasNews]

NINEWA

An Iraqi commander says 90 American advisors arrived in Makhmur District, 90 km (56 miles) southwest of Mosul, to train Peshmerga and tribal fighters. He also says preparations are ongoing to open the headquarters of Iraq’s Ninewa Operations Command in Makhmur. [Karemlash]

 

A PUK official says Daesh executed one of its emirs, a former high ranking local Baathist, in Mosul, accusing him of betrayal. [PUKMedia]

He also says the Coalition bombed Daesh in Tal Afar, Bashiqa and Qayara, killing more than 30 terrorists and wounding many others. [PUKMedia]

A source from Ninewa says the Coalition bombed Daesh near Bashiqa, killing or wounding 22 of them. [Mada]

 

A medical source in Ninewa says the forensics department in Mosul received 30 bodies of Daesh fighters killed in Coalition airstrikes on Tel Keif, Bashiqa, and the Shabak village of Fadhliya just northeast of Mosul. The source also says dozens of other fighter were brought in wounded and most Mosul hospitals are filled with them. [Ghad]

 

IWMC says the Coalition bombed Daesh in Abu Maria village, 50 km (31 miles) west of Mosul, killing and wounding dozens of Daesh members including the media official. IWMC also says “dozens” of Daesh were killed or wounded in an airstrike while digging a tunnel between Al-Ashiq village and Tal Afar. [Mada]

 

A local source says a sticker IED exploded under a Daesh truck in Shura south of Mosul, killing 4 terrorists. [Maalomah]

 

Daesh’s Friday speeches in Mosul focused on begging people to join Daesh in its fights. [Ghad]

 

REPORTS FROM SYRIA

 

A Syrian local commander says Daesh executed 7 civilians in Manbij, in Aleppo Governorate, accusing them of being members of the FSA and other armed groups. [Welati]

 

A local source in Manbij says Daesh has given an ultimatum to Kurdish residents to either leave the city or join them. The source says Daesh kidnapped dozens of Kurds and beheaded 3 of them recently. [Hawar]

 

A commander of Jabha Shamiya, a coalition of Syrian armed groups, says the Coalition launched more than 8 airstrikes on Daesh in Aleppo’s northern countryside, killing 14 terrorists and destroying a huge convoy. He also says Daesh continued its shelling on Mare’ and clashes erupted between the JS and Daesh in the area. [ARA]

 

The YPG says its troops stopped several Daesh attacks in Jazeera and Kobane during the last 24 hours. [ROJNews]

Daesh says it attacked the Kurdish forces northeast of Sarrin, without giving more details. [Dump]

 

A local activist says a new mass grave was found in Abu Hama village in east Deir Al-Zor. He says the 15 beheaded bodies found in the mass grave belonged to members of the Shaitat tribe executed by Daesh. [ARA]

 

Local activists from Deir Al-Zor say Daesh brought 2 Abrams tanks to the city in order to send them to the battle near Deir Al-Zor airport. They also say Daesh appointed a new (Iraqi) military commander in the city after their previous commander was severely wounded. [ARA]

 

Daesh sends another video message to the immigrants to Europe telling them it would be better for their kids to join Ashbal Al-Khilafa (Daesh’s military unit of young boys) than to die in the sea. [Archive]

REPORTS FROM OTHER MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICAN COUNTRIES

 

Egypt. The Egyptian Army says its troops killed 9 terrorists and arrested 88; and destroyed 61 IEDs, 28 hideouts, 18 vehicles and 32 motorcycles on the 12th day of its military operations in Sinai. [Youm7]

 

Libya. Sources in Tripoli says Daesh detonated a back fence of Mitiga Airport in Tripoli in order to enter and free their prisoners there but Libyan security forces managed to kill all the attackers. Three security officers were killed. [AfriGate] Daesh says 4 of its suicide terrorists (2 Sudanese, a Moroccan and a Tunisian) entered Mitiga Airport, “where the prisoners are being tortured”, and clashed with the Libyan forces there before they were killed. A local source says the situation in Sirte is becoming worse after Daesh took control of the city. Services and communications have been cut off for about a month now and Daesh is raiding houses every day looking for people they want. [AfriGate]
