Ramadi

A tribal commander says Iraqi Army, police and tribal fighters launched a large attack on Daesh west of Ramadi, clearing Albu Chlaib and Tawi and killing “dozens” of Daesh terrorists. [Mada]

 

The Chairman of the Security Committee in Khaldiya subdistrict says Iraqi forces launched 4 locally made rockets on Daesh positions in Jazeera Khaldiya, killing “dozens” of Daesh fighters. [Mada]

The Chairman of the Khaldiya District Council says Daesh shelled Khaldiya and Habbaniya with mortars killing a 5-year old girl and wounding 5 other civilians including women. [Sumaria]

 

An Iraqi Anti-Terrorism Forces commander says Iraqi forces are advancing west of Ramadi and the next step will be clearing the former Anbar Operations Command and the 8th Army Brigade headquarters locations, which had been captured by Daesh some time ago. [Ghad]

 

A security source says the Coalition airpower destroyed 2 Daesh vehicle bombs attacking Iraqi forces in Albu Dhiab north of Ramadi. [Baghdadia]

The Anbar Operations Commander says the Coalition airpower destroyed 3 Daesh vehicle bombs attacking Iraqi forces in Albu Farraj and Jaraishi north of Ramadi. He also says the IAA destroyed another vehicle bomb in the same area. [Sumaria]

Hit/Haditha

The IWMC says the Iraqi Army 7th Division artillery shelled Daesh east of Baghdadi, killing “dozens” of terrorists and destroying 4 vehicles, including one carrying IEDs, and 2 motorcycles. The IWMC also says Iraqi forces destroyed 15 IEDs; defused 12 booby-trapped houses and 10 shops; and found 10 rockets, 3 explosives vests and 5 IEDs in Baghdadi and its surrounding areas. The Jazeera Operations Commander says his troops found a Daesh Jahannam (hell) cannon and 12 rockets in Baghdadi orchards. He also says Iraqi Army 7th Division troops killed 4 Daesh fighters and destroyed 2 vehicles east of Baghdadi. [Sumaria]

 

Western Anbar

IWMC says the Al-Suqoor Intelligence Cell located a Daesh suicide bombers location in Al-Qa’im near the Syrian border and the IAF bombed the location, killing 16 terrorists and destroying a vehicle bomb. The IAF also bombed another Daesh location in Al-Qa’im, where terrorists from Salahuddin were coming, and killed 10 of them and wounded many others. Some of the wounded were taken to Al-Qa’im hospital and some to Syria. [Mada]

Baiji

The IFP Commander says his troops killed 3 Daesh fighters and destroyed their vehicle with a Kornet rocket, and confiscated rockets and rocket launchers near Siniya airbase. He also says the IFP defused 8 booby-trapped houses and destroyed 43 IEDs in Albu Juwari and near the Presidential Palaces in Makhoul. [Mada]

 

The PMF General Command says Iraqi forces supported by the IAA stopped a Daesh attack to regain the Makhoul Mountains area, killing many terrorists and destroying their vehicles and forcing them to retreat. [Mada]

Shirqat

The IWMC says the IAF bombed a Daesh convoy of vehicle bombs in Shirqat, destroying them and killing many Daesh members. [Mada]

Elsewhere in Salahuddin

The chief of the Asayesh in Tuz says PMFs kidnapped several citizens from Hay Al-Askari in Tuz and the bodies of 3 of the kidnapped were later found—a Sunni Turkman policeman and 2 Sunni Arabs. He also says the PMFs burned down a house that belongs to a Sunni citizen in revenge for the car bomb explosion in the same area on Thursday that targeted a Shia religious gathering and killed 5 people and wounded 40. However, Daesh claimed responsibility for the car bomb. [Rudaw]

A security source says the bodies of 8 unknown men were found shot in Tuz. [Ghad]

DaeshDaily comment. All of this seems to add up to PMFs murdering innocent Sunnis.

BAGHDAD

Prime Minster Abadi appoints the Minister of Labor as acting Minister of Trade. The Minister of Trade is under investigation on corruption charges. [Baghdadia]

 

The Commission on Integrity says the lists appearing in the media recently with names of officials investigated on corruption charges are old and most of the cases were closed. A Commission on Integrity official was the source of the old lists recently published. [Sumaria]

 

A spokesman of the MoD says the Ministry didn’t have any information about the operation in Hawija and learned about it from the media. [Buratha]

 

Moqtada Al-Sadr says the American operation in Hawija is a violation of Iraqi government sovereignty. [Mada]

The AAH says the operation is a violation of national sovereignty and “deepened the concept of dividing Iraq” since the US dealt with Erbil and not Baghdad. [Mada]

 

A Sunni bloc in the CoR says the American airborne operation in Hawija is an important development and should be understood. The bloc also thanks the US for its sacrifice to save Iraqis facing death. [Mada]

 

A member of the CoR’s Security and Defense Committee says Iraqi investigators should participate in questioning the Daesh members captured by the Americans in Hawija. [Mawazin]

 

A local source says Shia militiamen killed a Sunni tribal leader in Mahmudiya in south Baghdad. [Gharbiya]

 

Tribal leaders from Anbar and Salahuddin provide food and services for the Shia pilgrims heading to Kerbala. [Baghdadia]

A member of Diyala GC says the tribal PMF initiative east of Baquba will collapse if the government doesn’t support it. He says hundreds of tribal fighters volunteered in Mansouriya subdistrict to support the security forces and fight Daesh, and have now gone 10 months without salaries or weapons. [Sumaria]

 

A security source says a police officer was wounded when an IED exploded near a Shia religious gathering in Baquba. [Buratha]

Muqdadiya/Abu Saida

A source in Diyala GC says the mosque imam of Abu Khanazir village in Abu Saida was found shot in the head. The imam was kidnapped 8 days ago. [Sumaria]

 

A security source says 5 mortar shells fell near Mukhaisa, wounding a civilian. [Sumaria]

 

Northern Diyala

Daesh says its terrorists attacked an Iraqi Army barracks in Udhaim with light and mid-size weapons, forcing the soldiers to flee. [JustPaste]

 

KIRKUK

The head of the Kurdistan Region Security Council, Masrour Barzani, says 6 Daesh terrorists were killed and 20 captured in the Hawija operation and 69 prisoners were released, none of them a Kurd. He also expressed his condolences to the family of Master Sgt. Joshua L. Wheeler, who lost his life in the operation. [BasNews]

 

Daesh supporters online say Daesh’s best response to the operation in Hawija is to execute all the Peshmerga prisoners it has. [Ghad]

DaeshDaily comment. Daesh has already executed dozens of Peshmerga fighters. The best way to respond to that is more daring military operations to free them.

 

A local source says Daesh transported dozens of its prisoners from Hawija to 3 central prisons in Mosul through Qayara. The source says Daesh put them in prisons in west Mosul, the Ninewa court prison near the municipality building, and the Hawi prison in west Mosul and asked its terrorists in the areas close to Iraqi forces and Peshmerga to bring their prisoners too. A Turkmen PMF commander says his troops shot down a Daesh drone in Bashir south of Kirkuk. He says the drone was carrying 2 missiles. [Mada] Another source says it was a recon drone. [Sumaria]

DaeshDaily comment. Daesh uses recon drones but we have never previously heard that it has a bombing drone.

Daesh publishes a video of the location of the American operation and shows dead bodies of men, claiming they were prisoners. [A3maq]

A Peshmerga commander says hundreds of people escaping from areas west of Kirkuk (along the front lines between Peshmerga and Daesh), including some Daesh members, tried to enter Kurdistan, but were not allowed in because several Daesh members were arrested earlier from that area.

 

NINEWA

Local sources say people in Qayara started to smoke cigarettes openly in the city after the reports about Daesh’s defeat in Baiji. The sources also says unknown armed men shot and killed 11 Daesh members escaping the battles in Baiji and threw their bodies on the road. [Karemlash]

 

A local source from Mosul says Daesh is digging a 5 m deep trench between Qayara and Shirqat to hinder the advances of the Iraqi forces. [BasNews]

A PUK official says unknown armed men shot and killed 2 Daesh hisbah members in a market in the west side of Mosul. He says the Coalition airpower bombed Daesh in Makhmur and Bashiqa killing 10 terrorists and wounding 11 and destroying 2 vehicles. [PUKMedia]

He also says Daesh attacked the Peshmerga in Al-Khazer but the Kurdish forces supported by Coalition airpower stopped the attack, killing 9 terrorists and wounding 18 and destroying 6 vehicles. [PUKMedia]

The PUK official says Daesh arrested 30 former security and military members, who had “repented” earlier, in a village west of Rashidiya and clashes erupted in the area between Daesh and the families of the detained men. He says 15 people were killed or wounded in the clashes. [PUKMedia]

 

Local sources say Daesh executed a college law professor and a former police commander after capturing them from their houses in Mosul. [Karemlash]

DaeshDaily comment. Security officers and anyone who deals with law like lawyers or judges were either killed or forced to “repent”, but many reports have surfaced recently that Daesh is killing the people who repented.

 

Local sources say Daesh detained hundreds of young men and tribal leaders from south Mosul, fearing they would cooperate with Iraqi forces. [Karemlash]

 

Daesh says it attacked several Peshmerga barracks in the Gwer subdistrict in northern Makhmur, killing 29 Kurdish fighters and destroying 5 of their vehicles. [Dump]

 

IWMC says Coalition planes coordinating with the Iraqi Intelligence Service destroyed Daesh rockets in Tal Afar. [Ghad]

KURDISTAN

A Gorran CoR member asks the international community, the Iraqi government, and the UN to intervene to prevent a civil war in Kurdistan. She says President Barzani violated the Kurdish constitution by remaining in office after his extended term expired. [Buratha]

 

A Kurdish CoR member says an American representative attended a meeting of the five Kurdish parties and asked them to keep President Barzani in his position until the end of the current stage. He says some political parties don’t understand the current situation in the world and especially in the Middle East. [Sumaria]

Sistani rep in Kerbala asks the government to reconsider the new government employee salary schedule and to increase the PMFs’ budget. [Ghad]

 

Demonstrators in Babel turned their demonstrations for today into Shia ceremonies commemorating Ashura, but still used them as an occasion to demand reforms. [Mada]

Northern Syria

A Kurdish leader in the Syrian opposition says the PYD’s decision to join Tal Abyad with Kobane serves the Assad regime because it creates conflicts between the peoples of Syria and aims at dividing the country. [BasNews]

 

A local activist says the PYD Asayesh captured more than 10 young Kurds for compulsory military service in Ain Eissa. [BasNews] Another source says the YPG captured 49 young men since Thursday, which created resentment from Christian and other Kurdish parties. [Welati]

Daesh says it captured 8 Syrian military road barriers between Ithriya and Khanaser after an attack that started with 2 suicide bombings that killed “dozens” of Syrian soldiers, destroyed 3 tanks, and captured 2 tanks and a vehicle. Saudi Arabia. The Imam of the Masjid Nabawi in Medina tells young men at Friday prayers. “If anyone tells you to bomb yourself, tell them to first do it themselves”. [Islam Memo]

Egypt. A security source says the Egyptian military started the second stage of its operations against Daesh in Sinai. Egyptian airpower bombed Daesh in Arish, Rafah and Sheikh Zuweid, killing 25 terrorists and wounding many others, and destroying 71 locations, 11 vehicles and many motorcycles. Ground troops also attacked Daesh, killing 15 and capturing 16 during the last 3 days in addition to finding a big underground Daesh field hospital. [Mogaz]

Tunisia. The National Anti-Terrorism Unit arrests 2 members of a Daesh cell whose job is to support the families of the terrorists in jail or outside the country. [Tunisien]

 

Pakistan. A Pakistani official says an 18-year-old man dressed as a women detonated himself in a Shia mosque in Baluchistan, killing 10 people and wounding 18. The official says six of the victims were boys aged 8 to 10. [IslamMemo]
