ANBAR

Falluja

Iraqi forces kill 3 Daesh terrorists and destroy a vehicle and defuse 6 IEDs in Qarma subdistrict. [IWMC Report]

A local PMF commander says a Anbar tribal leaders disowned 33 tribal leaders from Qarma for joining Daesh. [Al-Baghdadia]

Ramadi

The Iraqi Anti-Terrorism Service commander says military leaders held a meeting at Anbar University after clearing it of all IEDs. He says there is an intention to locate the Operations Command in the University. [Al-Mada]

Anbar Operations Command troops continue their advances in Albu Aitha north of Ramadi and defuse 45 IEDs and destroy 9 hideouts. Another Iraqi force cleared a mine field north of Albu Aitha and defused 60 IEDS. The IAF bombed Daesh in Albu Aitha, killing 9 terrorists and destroying a machine gun. The Coalition also bombed Ramadi near Albu Aitha, killing 11 terrorists and destroying their hideout. [IWMC Report]

The Coalition launched 3 airstrikes on the Al-Akrad neighborhood, close to Anbar University.   [IWMC Report]

Iraqi forces liberated Mshaihda Hill east of Ramadi completely and raised the Iraqi flag there. [IWMC Report] Daesh says it destroyed an Iraqi Army tank in Tal Mshaihda (photos). [Just Paste]

A local PMF commander says Iraqi forces are advancing slowly in Ramadi and Falluja to give a chance to the civilians to leave. He says Daesh prevents the civilians from leaving and has told them “we win together or die together.” Iraqi forces have almost completely freed the Al-Tamim area, 2 km from the University, but are advancing slowly because of the huge numbers of IEDs and car bombs Daesh has planted in their way. Iraqi forces also control the Jazeera area and have cut Daesh supply lines from Syria. [Al-Mada]

 

A source in Anbar Operations Command says Iraqi forces conducted a search operation in areas around Anbar University and found a Daesh weapons and explosives storehouse. [Al-Maalomah]

The Anti-Terrorism Service troops captured 4 vehicles and 30 containers of explosives in addition to weapons and ammunitions while clearing Anbar University. [IWMC Report]

 

The IWMC says the Iraqi Federal Police shelled Daesh locations in Hsaiba, killing 23 terrorists. The Cell also says IFP snipers killed 4 Daesh terrorists trying to booby-trap a school in Al-Madhiq, east of Ramadi. The IWMC says the IAA launched an airstrike on Daesh Hisbah (religious police) in Rutba, killing 13, including a high ranking Daesh leader. [Iraqi Media Network]

SALAHUDDIN

Salahuddin Police Commander refutes the reports about arresting 5 high ranking Salahuddin police officers in Baghdad. He says the officers were called to Baghdad for administrative investigations. [Al-Mada] A security source in Salahuddin had said a security force from Baghdad arrested 4 high ranking officers, including the deputy police commander and Baiji police chief. [Al-Baghdadia]

Eyewitnesses say Daesh military leader in Shirqat, Marwan Al-Jubouri, and 2 of his associates were killed in an airstrike on their car. The eyewitnesses think it was a drone. [Ray Al-Youm]

Iraqi Army’s 17th Infantry Brigade defused 40 IEDs in Sayyed Ghareeb. [IWMC Report]

Local sources say a suicide bomber in an oil tanker attacked Iraqi forces in Samarra, killing 8 soldiers and injuring 12. [Al-Gharbiya]

A security source says 2 Iraqi policemen were killed and 3 injured when a parked car exploded near the Strategic Line west of Samarra. [Ray Al-Youm]

BAGHDAD

Iraqi security forces arrested 6 college students from Anbar, suspected Daesh members, in Anbar University’s temporary location in Abu Ghraib in west Baghdad. [Al-Maalomah]

 

The Security and Defense Committee in the Iraqi Parliament asks the government to pay the salaries of the MoD and MoI personnel on time. The salaries of the Iraqi soldiers, officers and policemen are being delayed, including those who got injured or lost their lives. [Al-Mada]

 

The Legal Affairs Committee in the Iraqi Parliament will invite several ministries and local and international organizations to a session on August 12 to discuss the general amnesty law.

 

The Finance Committee in the parliament says the arrival of the first group of l-159 jets from the Czech Republic was delayed for 4 more months because of a misunderstanding. [Iraq Press]

Minister of Defense meets with Russian officials in St. Petersburg for a “comprehensive review” of the arms contracts and discusses the ways to move forward. [MoD Website]

The IAF flew 15 air sorties and the IAA 40, while the Coalition implemented 10 sorties, killing 21 terrorists and destroying 3 car bombs. [IWMC Report]

The UN says it will suspend its health programs in Iraq because of the lack of funding. The UN has already reduced its humanitarian work by 40%. [Al-Moslim]

  • An IED exploded inside a bus in Husseiniya in north Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring 4. [Al-Mada]
  • A police patrol found a man shot to death in Shula in north Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]
  • Iraqi police found 2 bodies of women shot in the head and the chest in Hay Al-Nasr in east Baghdad. [Al-Mada]
  • A civilian was killed and 7 injured in an IED explosion near a car dealership in Sadr City in east Baghdad. [Al-Mada]
  • An IED exploded near a popular market in Mahmudiya in south Baghdad, killing 2 civilians and injuring 8. [Iraq Press]
  • An IED exploded in Camp Sara in Baghdad center, killing a civilian and injuring 2. [Iraq Press]

 

DIYALA

A security source says a farmer was killed and his son injured when a roadside IED exploded in Abu Saida northeast of Baquba. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

Dijla Operations Commander says his troops arrested 18 terrorists from 3 different cells during July. [Buratha]

 

KIRKUK

A security source says Daesh detonated the houses of 5 citizens in Hawija who didn’t pledge allegiance. [Al-Maalomah]

IWMC says 6 Daesh terrorists, including the Daesh deputy wali of Kirkuk, were killed and 20 injured in an airstrike on their convoy in west Hawija. [Al-Mada] A military source says the IAA killed Daesh Hisbah  leader in Kirkuk, Abu Maria, and several other terrorists in the airstrike. [Iraqi Media Network]

A security source says the IAA bombed a Daesh convoy in Al-Riyadh west of Kirkuk, killing Mullah Shwan, the Kurdish Daesh terrorist responsible for burning 21 Peshmerga fighters to death. [Al- Ghad]

A PUK official says the Coalition bombed Daesh in a village in southwest Kirkuk, killing 15 terrorists and destroying 3 vehicles. [PUKMedia]

NINEWA

Local sources from Mosul say they found a mass grave in the Rashidiya area north of Mosul with 30 bodies of Iraqi soldiers and policemen executed by Daesh. [BasNews]

 

A Ninewa Police source says the Coalition bombed a Daesh training camp in Hammam Al-Alil, 20 km (12.5 miles) south of Mosul, killing 19 terrorists and injuring 13. [BasNews]

 

A KDP official says the Coalition bombed Daesh locations in 2 villages near Bashiqa, killing 9 terrorists and destroying 2 car bombs. [KDP]

A security source says one of the men accused in the Speicher Massacre was arrested at a checkpoint in Dhi Qar province. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

REPORTS FROM SYRIA

Syrian Army captures Hay Al-Zuhoor in south Hasaka, the last Daesh location in south Hasaka, reportedly after bombing with barrel bombs. The Coalition launched 7 airstrikes on Daesh in Hasaka yesterday. [Rudaw] However, other sources say the clashes between the YPG and Daesh continued in other areas in south Hasaka after most of the area was liberated. [Welati]

 

A report about an Armenian church in Tal Abyad used by Daesh as a torture center when they occupied the city. [Hawar]

 

Daesh publishes photos of shelling the Lebanese Army in Bekaa Valley from Al-Qalmoon in Syria. [Just Paste] And the Syrian Army and Hezbollah in Qalmoon. [Dump]

 

Daesh says it captured 2 strategic hills and 10 Syrian Army military checkpoints northwest of Tadmur. [A3maq]

 

Daesh publically executed an old man in Al-Jazeera, accusing him of blasphemy. [Just Paste]

Daesh publishes photos of beheading a man in Tadmur, accusing him of “wizardry.” [Dump]

DaeshDaily comment.  These accusations may only mean they didn’t like the two men for some reason. Daesh kills some people just to intimidate other people.

 

REPORTS FROM TURKEY

 

Turkey says the security forces have so far arrested 1,302 suspects in 39 provinces. [Anadolu]

DaeshDaily comment. The report does not distinguish between Daesh and PKK suspects. Continuation of this practice will confirm that lumping them together serves a political purpose.

 

REPORTS FROM OTHER MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICAN COUNTRIES 

Libya. Shura Council of Mujahedeen in Derna says they captured the Corfat Saba’a area from Daesh but lost 5 fighters in clashes. They say Daesh used the area to attack Derna with rockets and mortars and the clashes are still going on. Tunisia. A Tunisian official says his government shut down 80 associations linked to terrorist and takfiri groups and warns 83 others to correct their ways. [Islam Memo]

 

Yemen. A Yemeni security source says 11 people were killed or injured in a car bomb explosion near an Ismaili Shia mosque in Sana’a. [islam Memo]
