ANBAR

Falluja

Baghdad Operations Command killed 18 Daesh terrorists and injured 3, destroyed 6 vehicles and a motorcycle, and defused 50 IEDs in Qarma. [IWMC Report]

Iraq War Media Cell (IWMC) says the IAF foiled a Daesh attempt to drown some areas in Falluja District by building a dirt dam on the Euphrates River. [Al-Ghad]

Ramadi

Local sources say 46 Iraqi soldiers and PMFs were killed and 48 injured in the ongoing battles in Ramadi yesterday and today. [Al-Gharbiya]

The Anbar Police commander says Iraqi forces are making big advances in Ramadi liberation battles and are forcing Daesh to retreat in many areas. He also says the tribal fighters have an important role in fighting Daesh and in holding the ground. [BasNews]

Iraqi forces killed 4 Daesh fighters, defused 20 IEDs, and destroyed a vehicle in different areas near Ramadi. [IWMC Report]

A security source says Iraqi forces stopped a Daesh attack with 2 car bombs in the Kilo 35 area west of Ramadi, killing 12 terrorists. [Al-Baghdadia] The Jazeera Operations Commander says Iraqi forces destroyed 2 fuel tanker bombs and a construction shovel bomb attacking the Iraqi forces in the 35 Kilo area. Two Iraqi soldiers were injured in the attack. [Al-Sumaria]

Daesh says a Tajik and a Syrian terrorist attacked Iraqi forces at Kilo 35 with a construction shovel bomb, then two more Syrians attacked with 2 car bombs, killing and injuring many Iraqi soldiers. [Dump]

 

A source in Anbar Police says Iraqi forces stopped a Daesh attack on Hsaiba east of Ramadi, killing 6 terrorists. [Al-Maalomah] The IFP commander says Iraqi forces killed 11 Daesh terrorists in Hsaiba. [Al-Sumaria]

A local source says Iraqi forces clashed with Daesh in Hsaiba and the battles are still going on. [Al-Gharbiya]

 

A local tribal leader says Daesh detonated his house and his brother’s east of Ramadi. His brother is the current Iraq Ambassador to Bahrain. [Iraq Press]

A member of the Ramadi District Council says “powerful fronts” added fake names to the displaced people’s list to steal their grant money allocated by the government. [Buratha]

DaeshDaily comment. The corruption in the displaced families lists, from officials stealing the money allocated for the families, is widespread and is hindering the government’s efforts to support them.

 

Elsewhere in Anbar

A source in Anbar Police says the IAA bombed a Daesh mortar launching location in Al-Baghdadi in Hit District, killing 5 terrorists. [Al-Maalomah] IWMC says Jazeera Operations Command and the IAF killed 12 Daesh terrorists and destroyed 5 rocket launchers in Baghdadi. [Al-Baghdadia]  Another source says Iraqi forces stopped a Daesh attack on Baghdadi, killing 9 terrorists and destroying 4 car bombs. [Al-Ghad]. These stories are likely overlapping.

 

An IFP commander says Iraqi forces stopped a large Daesh attack on Albu Hayat in Haditha District, 170 km (105 miles) west of Ramadi, killing 14 terrorists including 3 suicide bombers and destroying 7 vehicles. [Al-Mada]

 

IWMC says the IAF bombed the biggest Daesh car bomb factory and an IED factory in Rutba. [Al-Ghad]

SALAHUDDIN

The Iraqi Federal Police commander says Iraqi Joint Forces liberated Tal Abu Jarad completely and reached Daesh defense lines in Siniya Subdistrict and are ready to liberate it. [Al-Maalomah] A security source says the PMFs killed a Daesh local commander and 2 of his associates near Siniya.

A source in Salahuddin Operations Command says Daesh captured 50 young men from Shirqat and executed 30 of them, accusing them of using social media. [BasNews]

Another source said Shirqat hospital received the bodies of 50 Daesh terrorists killed in the fights in Baiji. [Buratha]

 

An Iraqi Special Operations commander says Daesh attacks on Baiji refinery have failed. [Buratha]

The Iraqi government issued a statement saying PM Abadi visited Iraqi forces in Salahuddin and Baiji. He met with the security and military commanders and asked them to prepare plans to liberate the remaining Daesh-held parts of the Baiji refinery area as soon as possible. [Ray Al-Youm]

A security source says a colonel in the IFP was killed in battles with Daesh in Baiji. [Al-Baghdadia]

The Iraqi Intelligence Service shelled Daesh with rockets in Al-Mazraa in Baiji, killing 12 terrorists and destroying 4 vehicles including 2 car bombs. [MoD Website]

IWMC says the IAA killed 6 Daesh terrorists in the Samarra military sector. The Cell also says Iraqi forces destroyed 2 vehicles including a car bomb in the same sector. [Buratha]

A security source says unknown armed men kidnapped 3 civilians in Tikrit. [Al-Baghdadia]

Salahuddin’s Governor says around 800,000 USD per month is being stolen from the salaries of Education directorate employees in Salahuddin in addition to money stolen from employees of the Health directorate and other government entities. [Al-Sumaria]

DaeshDaily comment. PM Abadi ordered a massive audit of the salaries of displaced people and people from Daesh occupied areas because of such corruption and because some of the money is going directly to Daesh. The central government sends salary money to its directorates. When staff members don’t come, perhaps because they are displaced persons, others sometimes sign for the money and steal it.

 

BAGHDAD

PM Abadi’s office refutes reports about the PM issuing orders to prevent demonstrations. [Al-Mada] A local official in Babel said the PM yesterday ordered Iraqi security to break sit-in demonstrations and open the roads in Babel, after demonstrations Saturday and Sunday. [Al-Sumaria]

The Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights says the displaced people in Iraq are on the verge of a catastrophe and asks the international organizations for urgent help. The UN’s coordinator for humanitarian affairs in Iraq says there is a huge lack of supplies for the displaced people and the funding will be over in 2 months. [Al-Ittihad]

The spokesman of the PMFs says they are reorganizing and redeploying their troops in response to the increase in military operations and Daesh’s changes of tactics. [Buratha]

A video of an Iraqi taxi driver performing a “practical joke” near a checkpoint in Baghdad by claiming he was a suicide bomber while the passenger is trying to escape. [YouTube]

Denmark decides to temporarily withdraw its 7 F-16s participating in the Coalition airstrikes on Daesh, for maintenance and rest. [Al-Mada]

Iraqi 17th Infantry Division found a Daesh storehouse in Arab Jabour in south Baghdad (video). [Mod Website]

  • An IED exploded near a popular market in Shaab in north Baghdad,, killing 2 civilians and injuring 7. [Iraq Press]
  • Unknown armed men shot and killed a policeman in Mishahda in north Baghdad. [Al-Sumaria]
  • An IED exploded near a popular café in Mada’in in south Baghdad, killing 2 civilians and injuring 9. [Al-Baghdadia]
  • The body of a civilian kidnapped by unknown armed men in Sadr City was found hours later. [Iraq Press]
  • A civilian was killed and 5 injured in an IED explosion in Dora in south Baghdad. [Iraq Press]
  • Unknown armed men shot and killed a lawyer in west Baghdad. [Al-Maalomah]
  • A civilian was killed when an IED exploded under his car in Tobchi in northwest Baghdad. [Al-Sumaria]

DIYALA

A local official asks Diyala GC to hold an urgent meeting to discuss the Kirkuk governorate’s decision to give an ultimatum to 30,000 displaced families from Diyala to leave Kirkuk city within one month. [Al-Sumaria]

 

A policeman was killed and another injured when an IED exploded on their patrol in Kanaan in southeast Baquba. [Al-Gharbiya ]

 

A security source says Iraqi Joint Forces conducted a military operation in Qara Tapa, 110 km (67 miles) northeast of Baquba, killing 10 Daesh fighters and destroying 2 vehicles. [Al-Maalomah]

 

A security source says an IED exploded in the Hashimiyat village northwest of Baquba, killing 2 Sahwa fighters. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says an IED exploded in a popular market in Muqdadiya, killing 2 civilians and injuring 8. [Al-Baghdadia] Another IED exploded near the Old Market in Muqdadiya, injuring 6 people including 2 policemen. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says unknown armed men shot and killed a mosque imam in Balad Ruz east of Baquba. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A roadside IED exploded in Khan Bani Saad south of Baquba, killing a man and his wife and injuring their 2 children. [Al-Gharbiya ]

 

KIRKUK

A security source says the Coalition launched airstrikes on Daesh locations and vehicles in Daquq, 35 km (22 miles) south of Kirkuk, without giving further information. [Al-Ghad] Another source says the Coalition killed “dozens” of terrorists and destroyed three of their tactical units in the airstrikes. [Al-Sumaria]

A PMF source says Iraqi Turkmen units within the PMFs have advanced against Daesh south of Taza subdistrict in Kirkuk. [Al-Ghad]

NINEWA

The spokesman of the National Mobilization Forces says Daesh’s morale is collapsing. It executed dozens of its members for running away from battle. He also says this is the best time to start Mosul liberation battles, as many people in Daesh-occupied areas are ready to revolt against Daesh and are waiting for support from the Iraqi government. [Al-Maalomah]

 

A Peshmerga source says the Kurdish forces, supported by Coalition airpower and Arab tribes from the region, liberated the Al-Duwizat village in Makhmur, killing 30 Daesh terrorists. The village had been captured by the Peshmerga in December but Daesh recaptured it after the Peshmerga withdrew and handed control of the village to local police and Sahwa. [Iraq Press]

 

Eyewitnesses say Daesh executed 14 men from Mosul, accusing them of cooperating with the Iraqi security forces. [Al-Mada]

 

A security source says 25 Peshmerga soldiers and officers imprisoned by Daesh in a Christian family house in Mosul escaped to an unknown location. [Al-Ghad] A PUK official says the prisoners escaped from a Daesh prison inside Mosul University after paying bribes to their guards. [PUKMedia]

 

A PUK official says the mufti of Daesh sharia court in Mosul committed suicide in his house. He also says the forensics department received 11 bodies of Daesh terrorists killed in airstrikes in addition to 17 former members of the Iraqi High Electoral Commission executed by Daesh. [PUKMedia] He also says the Coalition bombed the Daesh sharia court in Tal Afar, killing 12 including the Daesh “judge” responsible for executing dozens of civilians in the city. [PUKMedia]  The Coalition also bombed Daesh in several areas in and around Mosul, killing 28 terrorists. [PUKMedia]

 

A local source says Daesh brought 30 dead bodies of its fighters killed by the Coalition airstrikes on Sinjar, including 7 boys less than 15 years old. [BasNews]

OTHER GOVERNORATES   

Kurdistan

The directorate of Yazidi affairs in the KRG says many Yazidis are selling their properties for low prices in Sheikhan and other areas just to leave Iraq. The directorate warned that this will gradually empty Iraq’s Yazidi population. [Al-Sumaria]

 

A military expert says Daesh got chemical weapons in Syria and moved them to Iraq to use them against the Kurdish forces. [Rudaw]

 

Dahuk police say an armed man shot and killed a German woman and injured another woman in a popular market in Zakho.  [Iraq Press]

 

Norway’s Minister of Defense says her country is committed to train the Peshmerga in their fight against Daesh. [BasNews]

 

Southern Iraq

Moqtada Al-Sadr issued orders to his followers to participate in the demonstrations this coming Friday, to demand that the “failed security officials” be taken to the courts. [Al-Maalomah]

 

A local NGO says Iraq’s marshes will be completely dry within 40 days because of the lack of water. The NGO also says the marshes have lost 90% of their animals, bids, and fish. [Al-Ghad]

 

Basra. Local politicians, tribal and community leaders, and civil society activists say today they started the preparation to establish an autonomous Basra Region. [Al-Ghad]

DaeshDaily comment. This idea has been raised multiple times before, and it’s arguably not good for Iraq as a whole. For sure, the timing of this initiative could not be worse.

 

The Basra Criminal Court sentenced Luay Al-Eres, the former Iraqi Minister of Transportation to 7 years in absentia for corruption charges related to a Ministry contract with a security company. [Buratha] Like many accused ministers before him, Mr. Al-Eres skipped the country before the trial.

 

Qadessiya. The chairman of the security committee in Diwaniya says security forces captured 2 Daesh terrorists and confiscated IEDs they intended to use against civilian targets in the governorate. [Al-Ghad]

 

Wasit. A security source say Wasit police arrested a Daesh member in Suwaira north of Kut. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

REPORTS FROM SYRIA

Turkey’s Minister of Foreign Affairs says his country and the US will soon start military operations to kick Daesh out of areas in northern Syria. He says the details of the plans were finalized yesterday and other Coalition members might participate in the military operations. [PUKMedia]

Local source in Hasaka says Daesh and the YPG exchanged 6 prisoners. A local source close to the YPG refutes the reports about the deal. [Welati]

 

A report about the situation in Tal Abyad after the YPG captured it from Daesh. [Welati] Children of Tal Abyad will return to school after 2 years. [Hawar]

 

The YPG says the Daesh prisoner who participated in the massacre in June committed suicide in his cell. [ROJNews]

 

Daesh kidnapped 65 Kurdish civilians including women in the Qulan village south of Kobane. [Welati] Local sources say Daesh kidnapped 19 Arab civilians from the same village. [Hawar]

 

The YPG liberated a village and is advancing in Hasaka countryside and preparing to break through Al-Hawl town, 50 km (31 miles) from Hasaka. The Coalition is already bombing Daesh in the town. [Welati]

Turkey says its security forces captured 36 people, including 31 foreigners, trying to cross the border from Kilis and join Daesh in Syria. [Rudaw]

 

REPORTS FROM OTHER MIDDLE EAST/NORTH AFRICAN COUNTRIES 

Saudi Arabia. Saudi media says 2 brothers were killed the same day–one fighting with government forces in Yemen, the other as a suicide bomber with Daesh. Daesh said the second brother was a doctor but the Saudi media say he had a diploma in nursing. [Rudaw]

 

Libya. Daesh in Derna says Mukhtar BilMukhtar, the Algerian terrorist reportedly killed by an American airstrike, is still alive and he is wanted by Libya for treason. [Ana Al-Muslim]

Tunisia. A Tunisian guard was killed and 3 injured in clashes with terrorists on the border with Algeria. [Al-Sumaria]
