PM Abadi orders the security forces to prepare the necessary arrangements to open the Green Zone to the citizens. [Al-Maalomah]
DaeshDaily comment. The so-called Green Zone is a large area, set aside after 2003 invasion for security reasons. Being excluded from it has been an inconvenience and an issue to many Baghdad citizens, but a large percentage of Iraqi leaders and key government offices are located there, precisely because of the greater security of this protected area. Expect any opening of the Green Zone to be balanced with continuing tight security in some parts of it.
