ANBAR

Falluja

The local PMF commander in Qarma says Iraqi forces stopped 3 Daesh attacks on different areas in Qarma subdistrict, killing many Daesh fighters including suicide bombers and destroying several vehicles and car bombs. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

Baghdad Operations Command says its troops destroyed a construction shovel bomb in the Shiha area, and that it killed a terrorist and injured another in Subaihat in Qarma. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says Iraqi forces destroyed 2 Daesh vehicles in Qarma. [Al-Sumaria]

 

Ramadi

The chairman of the Security and Defense Committee in the CoR says another investigative committee will be formed to investigate the fall of Ramadi. [Buratha]

 

A security source says the IAA killed 13 Daesh terrorists and destroyed 2 vehicles in an airstrike on Jazeera Khaldiya. [Al-Sumaria]

 

A security source says Iraqi forces supported by Coalition airpower captured the police stations in Albu Farraj and Albu Aitha north of Ramadi, killing dozens of terrorists and defusing several booby-trapped buildings. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

Iraqi forces advanced in Jaraishi north of Ramadi, killing 3 Daesh members and defusing an IED and a booby-trapped hideout. [IWMC Report]

 

A security source says the Coalition destroyed 5 Daesh houses and killed “dozens” of terrorists in airstrikes on Jazeera Khaldiya east of Ramadi. [Al-Baghdadia] Another source says the Coalition bombed and destroyed 2 Daesh fuel tankers heading to Khaldiya. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

The IFP killed 2 Daesh snipers and destroyed 3 vehicles and a hideout east of Ramadi. [IWMC Report]

 

A security source says Iraqi forces cleared 2 more areas in Hay Al-Tameem west of Ramadi. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

Elsewhere in Anbar

The Badr militia commander says what’s happening in Anbar now is an ongoing encirclement. He also says the fight against Daesh is not easy and victory will need time. [Al-Mada]

 

The IAF conducted 2 sorties in western Anbar, destroying 2 Daesh convoys and killing 77 terrorists, including a Saudi and an Iraqi commander. [Al-Mada]

 

The Jazeera Operations commander says his troops killed 9 Daesh terrorists and destroyed 5 vehicles carrying heavy guns in Baghdadi, 90 km (56 miles) west of Ramadi. [Buratha]

 

A tribal leader from Rutba in west Anbar says Daesh confiscated the houses of everyone who left the city without “permission”. He also says the people who were caught trying to leave were put in public cages and tortured and humiliated. [Iraq Press]

A Commander of a Shia militia says his troops clashed with Daesh in the Rutba desert, killing 7 of them. Five of his fighters were injured. [Iraq Press]

 

The spokesman of Anbar GC says 2 Iraqi ministries will release the salaries of Anbar employees, except for those living in Daesh-controlled areas, whose salaries will be saved for them. [Al-Sumaria]

SALAHUDDIN

Baiji

A security source says Iraqi forces destroyed 2 Daesh car bombs using Kornet missiles and killed 20 more terrorists attacking Iraqi troops in Tal Abu Jarad from Siniya. [Al-Ghad]

Shirqat

A security source says Daesh executed 8 young men in Shirqat publically and left their bodies in the streets, after accusing them of cooperating with the security forces. [BasNews] [Al-Mada]

 

IWMC says Iraqi forces destroyed a Daesh convoy of 5 vehicles on the road between Baiji and Shirqat, killing many terrorists including a local commander. [Buratha]

 

Samarra

The IAF’s Sukhoi aircraft bombed Daesh’s Ain Al-Faras military compound in Jazeera Samarra, killing 14 terrorists including 2 commanders. [Al-Mada]

Iraqi forces stopped a Daesh attack in Jazeera Samarra, destroying many of their vehicles. [IWMC Report]

A security source says Daesh forces civilians in Jazeera Samarra to stay in their houses in order to obstruct the advance of Iraqi forces in the area. [Al-Baghdadia]

BAGHDAD

A spokesman for the Commission on Integrity says the Commission issued a warrant prohibiting 334 people from traveling outside the country, including 20 ministers. [Rudaw]

DaeshDaily comment. The Commission is obviously feeling empowered by the anti-corruption reforms. The 20 ministers presumably include former ministers, but it’s a large number by any standard and indicates the breadth of the corruption among the political elite.

 

An official source says Iraqi forces confiscated 2 big excavators used by Daesh to dig tunnels in Baiji and Falluja. He says Daesh got the excavators from Iraqi dealers who made use of the easy import rules regarding construction materials. [Al-Maalomah]

 

The Iraqi MoD says it cancelled 16 defense contracts worth 3.424 billion dollars, due to corruption suspicions, legal issues, or being unnecessary. [MoD Website]

 

The National Security Service says they found a large cache of explosives, IEDs and rockets in a hideout in Saba’ Al-Bor in north Baghdad. [Al-Maalomah]

 

According to security sources:

  • An IED exploded in a commercial area in Shula in north Baghdad, injuring 8 civilians. [Al-Mada]
  • An IED exploded in the industrial area in Husseiniya in north Baghdad, killing a civilian and injuring 5. [Al-Baghdadia]
  • Unknown armed men shot and killed an employee in the Iraqi Ministry of Finance while he was driving on the Army Canal highway in east Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]
  • Another dead body was found shot in Dora in south Baghdad. [Al-Gharbiya]
  • Two dead bodies of unknown men were found shot in Yusufiyah in south Baghdad. [Al-Gharbiya]
  • Two civilians were killed and 4 injured in an IED explosion in Radwaniya in northwest Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

Baghdad Operations Command killed a sniper and 5 other terrorists and destroyed 3 Daesh guesthouses in the Tala’a area in southwest Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]

The BOC also defused an IED planted near an electricity pole in Obeidiat in north Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]

The IFP defused a sticker IED planted under a civilian car in Saidiya in south Baghdad. [Al-Baghdadia]

Iraqi forces raided several areas near Mada’in in south Baghdad, capturing wanted terrorists and destroying 12 IEDs. [IWMC Report]

The Coalition conducted 14 sorties, killing 60 terrorists and destroying 3 vehicles, a weapons storehouse, and 17 other Daesh locations. [IWMC Report]

 

DIYALA

The chairman of the subdistrict council in Khan Bani Saad southwest of Baquba says strange diseases started to appear in the area after a Daesh suicide attack last month. [Buratha]

 

Dijla Operations Command captured 6 wanted terrorists in Lake Himrin and destroyed 7 IEDs, 3 motorcycle bombs, an IED factory, 3 hideouts and weapons and explosives. [IWMC Report]

 

A security source says Iraqi forces arrested 4 men wanted on terrorism charges north of Muqdadiya. [Al-Baghdadia]

A security source says unknown armed men shot and killed 2 Sahwa fighters in Muqdadiya. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says an employee in the Iraqi Ministry of Finance was injured when a sticker IED exploded under his car in Hibhib northwest of Baquba. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says an IED exploded in Abu Saida northeast of Baquba, killing a displaced person and injuring 3 others from his family. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says the bodies of 2 men kidnapped earlier were found dead in Wajihiya northeast of Baquba. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

A security source says an IED exploded near a wholesale market in north Baquba killing a civilian and injuring 5. [Al-Baghdadia]

 

KIRKUK

A security source says the Iraqi Joint Forces—including Army, police, PMFs, and Peshmerga—launched a major military operation and liberated 5 villages south of Kirkuk from Daesh. [Al-Maalomah]

A Peshmerga officer says the Joint Forces killed 33 Daesh fighters and injured many others in the operation. [Al-Maalomah]

The Kirkuk Governor says the military operation was stopped after achieving its goals. He also says 6 Peshmerga soldiers and 3 local fighters were killed. [Al-Maalomah]

A security source says 40 Daesh terrorists were killed and 45 injured in the battles and Daesh is calling people using loudspeakers to donate blood for its injured. [Buratha]

 

Another source says the Peshmerga and Anti-Terrorism units of the Joint Forces liberated 7 villages in Daquq District south of Kirkuk. [Buratha]

A police commander says the Peshmerga launched a major attack on Daesh between Tuz (in Salahuddin) and Daquq and liberated 11 villages. He says 5 Peshmerga soldiers were killed and 22 injured while 18 Daesh terrorists were killed and 6 injured. Daesh launched an attack on the PMFs in the area, killing 5 of them according to a Peshmerga commander. [Rudaw]

A Peshmerga commander says the roads to Kirkuk from Baghdad and Tuz are secured now and Daesh threats on the city have vanished. He says Daesh used those areas to launch attacks on southern Kirkuk. [Rudaw]

A source in Salahuddin Operations Command says more Iraqi troops arrived in Daquq, and also in Al-Fatha in Salahuddin. [BasNews]

NINEWA

The IWMC says the IAF destroyed a Daesh convoy in Mosul, killing Daesh’s former wali (governor) of Raqqa.

The IAF also destroyed 3 Daesh vehicles carrying rocket launchers and killed a Daesh commander in Tal Afar. [Al-Mada]

 

A security source says Daesh rearrested 5 prisoners escaped from their prison in Mosul a couple of days ago and is looking for the others. [BasNews]

 

A commander in Ninewa police says Daesh executed 19 more civilians in Mosul. [Xendan]

 

A security source says Daesh executed 3 lawyers arrested days ago by publicly shooting them in the head in Qayara south of Mosul. [BasNews]

 

A PUK official says an unknown armed group attacked the Daesh Khansa Center for women in Mosul, killing 3 female Daesh members. [Buratha] He also says 13 Daesh members were killed in internal fights in Mosul. [Buratha] He also says the Coalition killed 17 Daesh terrorists in an airstrike on the left side of Mosul. The Shinkal Resistance Command (an anti-Daesh Yazidi armed group in Sinjar) says they destroyed a Daesh vehicle and one of their snipers killed a Daesh terrorist in separate operations in Sinjar. [Hawar]

Raqqa Liberation Brigade, part of the Free Syrian Army, issues a statement saying they refuse to accept a YPG plan to have Tal Abyad combined administratively with Kobane.
